LSE SU Polish Business Society Chess Tournament 2021

On the 28th of February 2021, the history was made. The first ever chess tournament for Polish students organised by the LSE SU Polish Business Society was held! Weeks of preparation have resulted in a wonderful evening full of chess. The tournament took place on Lichess.org platform and was played in a 9-round Swiss system and the time control was 5+1.

More than 100 players from almost 40 universities from Poland and the UK participated in the tournament. The top three players represented respectively: Warsaw University of Technology, University of Cambridge and West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. The most students (11) came from AGH University of Technology followed by Cambridge (10) and Warsaw University of Technology (10).

The event was supported by collaboration with a Polish chess grandmaster Zbigniew Pakleza and a chess-content creator, streamer, and Youtuber Maciej Domin (Marianczello Dominioni) who watched and commented on the games live. You can access the Youtube livestream under this link:

We would also like to express our gratitude towards our partners who have helped us promote the event. It is probably the first time that a cooperation for such a scale was done between UK and Polish universities and we are more than proud to be a part of it.
